The Car People, Warrington – New Motor Vehicle Retail & Showroom
Project Overview Barlows was appointed to deliver the full MEP design and installation for the new build motor vehicle retail and showroom at The Car People in Warrington, working in close collaboration with main contractor Caddick Construction.
This flagship development, completed around 2017 as part of a £13 million investment, created a state-of-the-art used car supermarket on a prominent 13-acre site at Calver Park Road, Winwick. The facility, spanning 41,441 sq ft (approximately 3,850 m²), serves as a modern retail hub with capacity to display over 900 vehicles.

Delivery and Collaboration Barlows partnered closely with Caddick Construction to ensure the MEP systems were efficient, reliable, and aesthetically integrated. The front-of-house showroom demanded clean, stylish finishes, while the back-of-house areas required robust, practical solutions to support intensive workshop and valeting activities.
The project was delivered successfully on programme, contributing to the site’s official opening and establishing The Car People Warrington as one of the region’s leading used car destinations (now operating under the Sytner Select branding).
Outcome This new build project showcases Barlows’ expertise in delivering complex MEP installations for large-scale retail and automotive environments. The completed facility provides a modern, customer-focused space that supports high-volume vehicle sales and aftersales services, reinforcing The Car People’s reputation for quality and innovation in the used car market.
